Washington, D.C.: Cherry Blossoms in April
My parents and I moved around a lot as I was growing up. However four years ago, it was different. I was moving to a new city on my own - from Washington, DC across the country to San Francisco. I remember the emotions of excitement and anxiety the day before I left. I couldn't sleep, so I decided to catch one of my favorite things about DC in the Spring - the cherry blossoms. The city has the most spectacular Cherry Blossom Festival every April, but I had never seen it at sunrise. It was so serene. I felt so fortunate to photograph and capture the flowers and monuments in this extraordinary light.
I recommend that if you travel to Washington, DC, go in April. The spring weather is perfect and the city truly has one of the most impressive Cherry Blossom Festivals in the US. Better yet, visit the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin at sunrise when there are fewer people out. The colors are magical and the sunrise over the monuments allows you to capture such gorgeous moments. As a matter of fact, a newly engaged couple and their photographer had the same idea - I stumbled upon them and couldn't help but snap a photo of them too with the beautiful tree.
The cherry blossoms in DC are a sight not to miss!
