+ Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Europe and Africa, moving around every couple of years. I loved discovering new places and will always have that travel bug in me! I went to college in Virginia and upon graduating, lived in DC for a few years. I moved out west to San Francisco in 2013, where I met my now husband. Yup, I found my heart in San Francisco!

+ How tall are you?

Depends on the day (ahem, shoes) and who you ask, but 5’3”… and a half ;-)

+ What camera do you use?

Most of the time I use a Canon Rebel T3i. It's about 7 years old and doesn’t have the fancy bells & whistles of today’s DSLRs (i.e. Bluetooth, Wifi, etc.) but it still does the trick and has been a trusty camera. The Canon Rebel line is really user-friendly and the color quality is stunning! I use a 50mm lens for most of my portrait shots, and both 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses for more landscape/scenic shots. I also use my recently acquired mirrorless camera, the Sony Alpha a5100. It takes amazing quality DSR-like photos and is easier to travel with!

+ Who takes your pictures?

Currently, it’s just me with my camera and tripod. You gotta start somewhere!

+ What inspires you?

Travel always bring me inspiration. I have seen parts of Africa and traveled to far-away places like Bali, where simpler ways of life are lived but they are rich in traditional culture, extraordinary humanity, and natural beauty. I also spent time in Italy and France, where I fell in love with fashion, the architecture, and romance. Call me old-fashioned, but I’m inspired by the grace and elegance of the early 1900s. My all-time favorite authors are Jane Austen and Ernest Hemingway. I enjoy TV shows like Downton Abbey and Selfridges, and am a huge fan of movies like Midnight in Paris and my new favorite, La La Land! I admire strong female and style icons such as Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Michelle Obama, who made positive change for a woman's role in society and successfully built lasting empires and/or brands while doing so.

+ Why did you start a blog?

I started my blog in early 2017 to have a creative outlet. Living in San Francisco, I'm a girly girl living in a tech world, which is still very much male-dominated. I work in Product Marketing at a tech company by day and blog by night/weekends. I love all things fashion, travel, and lifestyle and have been an avid photographer for a few years, so I wanted to turn these passions into something that is both aesthetically pleasing and inspiring. I hope to encourage women to take a leap into the romantic and chic. My blog aims to show ways to incorporate aspects of lovely into your lifestyle, whether it be while exploring faraway places, or incorporating your inner #bosslady and feminine side into your daily routine with confidence!

+ Do you have a workout routine?

I like to run a lot. I started running in college, but really only got serious about it when I moved to San Francisco (fit culture #nopressure). I’ve run a few half marathons and ran my first full marathon in 2015! On average, I run a couple of times during the week and then do a long run with my running group on weekends.

+ What do you like to do for fun (besides blogging)?

There is so much to discover! One night we’ll enjoy a decadent meal at a top San Francisco restaurant and the following weekend we’ll go camping in Yosemite or skiing in Tahoe with friends. We enjoy the full spectrum of activities life has to offer and learn from - the opera, musicals, jazz bars, Hardly Strictly, the Tech Crunchies, taking classes, attending seminars, or just ordering take-out and watching Netflix - you name it! We also love wine and are spoiled by it here, so naturally, we chose to have our dream wedding in wine country - check out my series on how to Plan Your Wine Country Wedding!

I hope this helps give you a glimpse of who I am and what you'll be seeing on my blog. Don't forget to follow @leapintolovely on Instagram too!
